Jonah and the whale

Moby Dick flick-- Pastor's sermon about Jonah and the whale

I've watched this a few times. Some of Ahab's lines were taken almost word-for-word in the Star Trek flick "Wrath of Khan". But not the sermon. Maybe the Christianity was too much for Roddenberry. /snark

Gregory Peck makes a fine Ahab. His name looks familiar. How about that?

Er, that's not to mean that I'm chasing a white whale. Not the literal kind, nor the metaphorical kind.

One of the Gospels mentions that Jesus said that a wicked generation seeks after a sign, but no sign will be given it save the sign of Jonah. Aside from the obvious, is there a deeper meaning? Jonah was commanded to preach before the heathen, but ran away on a ship. Did Jesus want to "run away"?

The Gospels said that he knew what was going to happen to him, then he should've wanted to run away. Getting nailed to a cross to die isn't exactly a pleasant way to go.
