A chilling interpretation

Something I saw, perhaps a week ago, pretty much stopped me in my tracks for awhile. Maybe for more than awhile...

It was this prophecy thing. In the Gospel of Matthew, there is a passage about the end times. The disciples asked Jesus of this time, and his answer involved the prophecy of Daniel. It is Matthew 24, for your reference. In verse 15, the abomination of desolation was mentioned, and a reference to Daniel.

That's where an interpretation comes in. In Daniel, it was mentioned that weeks were reckoned in years. Therefore, 70 weeks is 490 years. It so happens that the dates line up pretty well. That's one thing. Another thing is that the end is not yet. There's one week left to fulfill the prophecy. That's how I remember the interpretation.

It could be mistaken. But there's more to relate. The interpetation continues on with Revelation. The end times will involve one week, or 7 years. Half of that time, things will appear to be okay. ( to some) That's because an agreement will be made, and the Jews will rebuild their temple in Jerusalem. It will be like old times again. But it will be stopped. That's when the abomination of desolation will occur. The tribulation will follow for 3 1/2 years, and then the Second Coming.

That's how I remember it. I took no notes, and I made no posts about it until now. The way I always figured it is that it would a big surprise to everyone when it occurs. But this interpetation makes it seem like a very real possibility, and SOON. That's what's chilling to me. I knew not what to write about it. It seems stunning. It could be a mistaken interpretation, but the abomination of desolation would be a definite thing.

All of this is quite feasible in the near future. It is a definite thing to look for, and it is all right there for anyone to see.

There is a Wikipedia entry for anyone who is interested... titled the Prophecy of Seventy Weeks. No link is provided here. You can search it.

It is interesting timing that the Gospels were said to have been written about the time of the Roman destruction of the Second Temple in 70 AD. All of it is quite interesting, but what you take from it is a matter for your own selves to determine.
