No guts no glory

It may be a bluff---let us see those cards

Yep, this is an analogy to a hand of poker. Somebody is trying to bluff you out of the pot and your choice is to fold or to call.

Let's say he shows an unbeatable possibility. But it is only possible. Like an royal flush, say. His hole card would tell the story if his hand is unbeatable or not. On your side, you don't even have a very good hand showing. At best, maybe you've got a pair. But there's a possibility that a pair could win. Even an Ace King high might win this hand. What the other guy doesn't know is your hole card. Maybe your high card is a King, and his is an Ace. His cards showing alone might beat you, but not if you have an Ace, and his high cards are an Ace and a Queen. In other words, you have a chance to win. But do you fold? Especially if the stakes get really high, and that guy is raising you a ton?

If this election is winnable, why not win it? Same as with the analogy here. If you can win, why not go all out to win? Why accept a loss if it isn't necessary?

Does the left want to start a war if they really lost and know it? I think that they would only fight if they knew they won and we were really trying to steal it from them.

They may think that, or it may be part of the bluff. If the stakes are high enough, and I think that they are, you dare not fold. But that's me.

Don't get beat by a "nothing" hand.
