Seems that there was another story which broke down the demographics of those who won't get the jab. Professors are jab-shy. This seems like it could be significant, because of the correlation here. If professors don't think it is worthwhile to wear masks, nor to get the jab, it may have some influence.
That's could be the reason for the firing. It is hard to fire a professor.
